We have a 6 month contract to hire opportunity for a hands-on Data Engineer with strong SQL expertise, experience working with Teradata, and proficiency using Git/source control in an Agile Scrum environment. They should have at least 2+ years of experience building and supporting data pipelines, data transformations, and large-scale data processing solutions, with the ability to independently develop complex SQL queries, contribute to code reviews, and deliver high-quality data solutions in a fast-paced, collaborative team setting. 100% Remote.

Preferred Experience:

Experience working on Teradata, in an agile scrum team and with source code repositories like GIT.

About this Role:

This team manages the Software Platform that powers reward processing for the Ambetter and Medicaid lines of business. There is a new project initiative to complete the migration of the remaining Medicaid LOBs onto a standard enterprise platform and retire the Core legacy platform. The key project is the migration to one consolidated application framework, that is highly configurable and easier to maintain. These individuals will be part of an agile scrum team delivering on this key business initiative.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

1. Writes basic SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE statements with occasional guidance.

2. Run a FastLoad or MultiLoad script with guidance.

3. Independently writes multi-table joins, subqueries, and aggregations.

4. Applies Teradata-specific syntax (QUALIFY, SAMPLE, DATE arithmetic) without guidance.

5. Performs daily Git operations independently - commit, push, pull, branch.

6. Resolves simple merge conflicts with guidance.

7. Applies branching strategies (GitFlow or trunk-based) consistently.

8. Performs rebases, cherry-picks, and resolves complex conflicts independently.

9. Writes clear MR descriptions with context, testing notes, and linked issues.

10. Gives specific, actionable review feedback.

11. Uses draft MRs and suggestions effectively.

12. Configure new Medicaid plans onto the standardized platform.

Performance will be tracked through Jira completion (10 points/sprint) and GIT commits occurring daily.

This is a true data engineer position and not a data analyst or scientist. These individuals will be focused on the extraction, preparation and delivery of data.

Job Description:

Develops and operationalizes data pipelines to make data available for consumption (reports and advanced analytics), including data ingestion, data transformation, data validation / quality, data pipeline optimization, and orchestration. Engages with the DevSecOps Engineer during continuous integration and continuous deployment.

Education/Experience:

A Bachelor's degree in a quantitative or business field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science) and requires 2 - 4 years of related experience.

Or equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position.

Technical Skills:

One or more of the following skills are desired.

Experience with Big Data; Data Processing

Experience with Other: diagnosing system issues, engaging in data validation, and providing quality assurance testing

Experience with Data Manipulation; Data Mining

Experience with Other: • Experience working in a production cloud infrastructure

Responsibilities:

Designs and implements standardized data management procedures around data staging, data ingestion, data preparation, data provisioning, and data destruction (scripts, programs, automation, assisted by automation, etc.)

Designs, develops, implements, tests, documents, and operates large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for business intelligence analytics

Designs, develops, and maintains real-time processing applications and real-time data pipelines

Ensure quality of technical solutions as data moves across internal environments

Provides insight into the changing data environment, data processing, data storage, and utilization requirements for the company and offers suggestions for solutions

Develops, constructs, tests, and maintains architectures using programming language and tools

Identifies ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality; use data to discover tasks that can be automated

Performs other duties as assigned
