Position Overview
DST Engineers is seeking motivated Mid-Level Transmission Engineers to support utility, renewable energy, and power delivery projects across North America. The successful candidate will perform transmission line engineering, design, analysis, and project support activities while working closely with senior engineers and project managers.
Opportunities are available for both Full-Time Employees and Independent 1099 Contractors.
For contractor positions, preference will be given to U.S.-based professionals; however, highly qualified international candidates will also be considered.
Experience Required
2–6 years of transmission engineering experience.
Ability to independently execute engineering calculations, design tasks, and project deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
Perform transmission line engineering and design for overhead and underground transmission systems.
Prepare engineering calculations including:
Sag and tension analysis
Structure loading analysis
Clearance verification
Conductor and shield wire selection
Foundation loading assessments
Develop engineering deliverables including:
Plan and profile drawings
Structure spotting packages
Bill of materials
Construction specifications
Design reports
Support routing studies and transmission line design activities.
Coordinate with utilities, developers, survey teams, geotechnical consultants, and construction personnel.
Review utility standards, client requirements, and NESC compliance criteria.
Support project execution from conceptual design through detailed engineering and construction support.
Participate in technical reviews and QA/QC activities.
Support renewable energy interconnections, transmission upgrades, and grid modernization projects.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
Working knowledge of:
NESC requirements
Utility transmission design standards
Structural loading principles
Power delivery engineering practices
Strong communication, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Technical Skills
Experience with one or more of the following:
PLS-CADD
PLS-POLE
PLS-TOWER
MFAD
LPILE
AutoCAD
MicroStation
ArcGIS
Preferred Experience
Transmission voltages ranging from 34.5kV through 765kV.
Renewable energy interconnection projects.
Utility capital improvement programs.
EPC and Owner's Engineering projects.
Substation-transmission coordination.
