Position Overview:

GPT Renewables is seeking Mechanical Installers to support a 2 MW commercial flat rooftop solar project. This project utilizes a Panel Claw racking system supported by ballasts with roof attachments, VSun modules, and SMA inverters.

The Mechanical Installer will be responsible for the installation of solar racking systems, ballast placement, module installation, and general mechanical construction activities on a commercial rooftop project. Candidates should have previous solar or construction experience and be comfortable working at heights in a fast-paced team environment.

This is a 15-week project with consistent overtime and the opportunity to work on a high-profile commercial rooftop installation.

Pay Rate: $25.41(+ Fringe benefits of $16.75)

Per Diem: $140 per work day

Responsibilities:

Promote and comply with all Company and site-specific safety policies and procedures.

Install Panel Claw racking systems utilizing ballast and roof attachment methods.

Install and secure VSun solar modules according to project specifications and manufacturer requirements.

Assist with rooftop layout, material staging, ballast placement, and mechanical assembly.

Utilize hand tools and battery-operated power tools such as impacts, drills, saws, and other construction equipment safely and effectively.

Read and interpret construction drawings, layouts, and installation plans.

Maintain proper alignment, spacing, and installation quality of all racking and modules.

Operate and work from scissor lifts while performing rooftop installation tasks.

Follow all fall protection, rooftop safety, and lockout/tagout procedures.

Maintain clean and organized work areas, tools, and equipment.

Assist with loading, unloading, lifting, carrying, and staging materials.

Identify and report installation issues, damaged materials, or safety concerns.

Work closely with crew leads, electricians, and other trades to maintain project schedules and productivity.

Produce quality work while maintaining a strong focus on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications:

Previous commercial solar or construction experience preferred.

Experience with rooftop solar installations strongly preferred.

Familiarity with ballast-mounted racking systems is a plus.

Experience with Panel Claw systems is preferred but not required.

Ability to work comfortably on rooftops and at heights.

Scissor lift certification preferred or ability to obtain certification prior to start.

Must own standard hand tools and battery-operated tools including impacts, drills, saws, etc.

Ability to lift and carry heavy materials throughout the workday.

Ability to read tape measures and follow installation drawings and instructions.

Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Must be at least 18 years of age.
