Summary

Responsible for supporting data center infrastructure operations, incident management, hardware deployments, Layer 1 networking, structured cabling, documentation, and infrastructure projects. Ensures reliable operation of data center environments through troubleshooting, implementation, and process improvement activities.

Roles and Responsibilities

Independently troubleshoot and resolve data center incidents, onsite risks, and operational issues.

Manage incident queues, shift handovers, media processing, and vendor escorts.

Execute data center installations, decommissions, rack deployments, reconfigurations, and power-down activities.

Support Layer 1 infrastructure design, implementation, documentation, capacity planning, and inventory management.

Assess impacts of infrastructure changes on data center services and components.

Maintain and improve operational procedures, standards, and technical documentation.

Participate in Agile ceremonies, knowledge sharing, demos, and team collaboration.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Telecommunications, Networking, or equivalent experience.

1–3+ years of experience deploying and maintaining data center environments.

Knowledge of structured cabling, including copper (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A) and fiber optic infrastructure (single-mode and multimode).

Understanding of LAN/WAN/SAN, firewalls, Windows/Linux/UNIX servers, storage, wireless, and DAS technologies.

Familiarity with TIA, IEEE, NEC, and ISO standards related to data centers and structured cabling.

Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Data center or networking certifications.

3–5+ years of experience designing, deploying, and maintaining complex data center environments.

Technical Skills

Layer 1 Infrastructure: Structured cabling, fiber optics, transceivers, connectivity standards, and deployment methodologies.

Data Center Hardware: Network, compute, storage, rack infrastructure, power, and cooling systems.

Data Center Software: OS installations/upgrades, APIs, system integration, and security hardening.

Network Operations: TCP/IP, VLANs, LAN/WAN, SNMP, ICMP, CDP, and network troubleshooting.

Automation: Scripting, APIs, CI/CD, and infrastructure automation concepts.

Data Center Operations: Power, cooling, fire suppression, physical security, and facility maintenance.

Technical Writing: Documentation, standards, procedures, and operational runbooks.
