Back End Software Developer

Back End Software Developer Ashburn, VA / Onsite Blu Omega is seeking a job title to support a federal program focused on mission area. This role operates within a environment type and is responsible for primary function across stated scope. The position requires experience supporting stated functional areas within a mission-driven environment. Mission overview: Support development and scaling of backend services for an Enterprise Search Capability that extends ChatCBP, the agency's internal AI assistant platform.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services supporting AI-enabled applications and enterprise search capabilities

Develop and manage APIs, microservices, and system integrations

Build secure data pipelines and services connecting mission systems, enterprise data sources, and AI platforms

Support integration of AI technologies into operational workflows

Design and optimize database structures, data access layers, and backend architectures

Collaborate with front-end developers, AI engineers, cloud engineers, and architects to deliver end-to-end solutions

Implement monitoring, logging, and performance optimization strategies

Participate in code reviews, testing, CI/CD processes, and Agile development activities

Required Qualifications

Familiarity with cloud-native development in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field

5+ years of software development experience with a focus on backend engineering

Experience developing APIs, microservices, and distributed systems

Strong experience with one or more backend languages: Python, Java, Node.js/TypeScript, or Go

Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases

Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs

Understanding of secure software development practices

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Databricks and large-scale data processing environments

Experience integrating AI-powered applications, Generative AI capabilities, or LLM services

Familiarity with AI agent frameworks, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, or enterprise search technologies

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud infrastructure automation

Experience supporting federal government programs or highly regulated environments

Compensation

Salary Range: $140,000.00 - $170,000.00 Final compensation is based on technical skills, experience, education, certifications, and clearance. Blu Omega Benefits & Perks
