Job Title: Packaging Machine Operator (AHP)
Location: Columbus, OH
Shift: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM (1st Shift)
Pay Rate: $18.00/hr.
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Operations Manager, the Packaging Machine Operator supports packaging and production activities in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include equipment sanitation, packaging preparation, machine operation support, quality inspections, product packaging, and ensuring compliance with cGMP, safety, and quality standards. The role requires strong attention to detail, teamwork, and the ability to maintain production efficiency while meeting regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and stage approved packaging materials and equipment for production runs.
Assist with the operation of packaging equipment and perform minor troubleshooting when necessary.
Support packaging and repackaging activities according to established specifications and quality standards.
Monitor production processes and escalate equipment or mechanical issues following established procedures.
Perform equipment cleaning, sanitation, and production room housekeeping activities.
Package finished products for shipment while ensuring label accuracy and product quality.
Complete production and compliance documentation accurately and timely.
Follow all cGMP regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and workplace safety requirements.
Identify and report quality, production, and safety concerns to management.
Collaborate with quality, maintenance, and operations teams to achieve production goals.
Participate in all required operational, compliance, and safety training programs.
Potential Work Assignments
Decommission Product
Scan barcodes to remove products from inventory.
Remove caps and empty product contents as required.
Follow proper disposal and documentation procedures.
Pack Out
Fill cartons with finished products.
Verify labels, sterilization information, and packaging accuracy.
Operate tape machines and stack finished cartons on pallets.
Filler Operator
Monitor packaging machinery during operation.
Remove defective or empty items from the production line.
Identify machine jams and stop equipment when necessary.
Support efficient machine performance and production flow.
Required Qualifications
Ability to read, write, and understand English.
Ability to stand for 8–12 hours per shift.
Strong manual dexterity and hand coordination.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
Basic mathematical and documentation skills.
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
Detail-oriented with the ability to follow detailed instructions.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in assembly, manufacturing, production, packaging, or warehouse operations.
Experience working on production lines or operating manufacturing equipment.
Familiarity with GMP-regulated environments.
