Job Description
We are seeking an accomplished Senior Electrical and I&C Estimator to lead the development of comprehensive construction cost estimates. This strategic role is responsible for delivering conceptual and detailed estimates for diverse projects, including vertical construction, water/wastewater facilities, pump stations, and power infrastructure. The successful candidate will leverage deep field experience and constructability expertise to generate accurate cost projections, particularly during early project phases when minimal design documentation is available.
Core Responsibilities
Develop Cost Estimates: Formulate high-level conceptual and detailed construction cost estimates for all electrical, instrumentation, and controls (I&C) systems.
Analyze Design Documentation: Interpret complex plans and specifications across multiple design phases—ranging from initial program and conceptual design through 100% Construction Documents and subsequent change orders.
Execute Quantity Takeoffs: Generate precise quantity takeoffs and calculate comprehensive costs utilizing standard labor rates, production efficiencies, material pricing schedules, and historical data metrics.
Establish Estimating Frameworks: Construct logical Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and author definitive Basis of Estimate (BOE) documents detailing methodologies, scope boundaries, and core assumptions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Gather and validate cost data from functional representatives, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure market-aligned pricing.
Strategic Project Support: Contribute heavily to formal risk analyses, value engineering, and constructability reviews to optimize project outcomes.
Data Management & Reporting: Create, maintain, and update historical cost models and data. Assist the Lead Estimator with formal reporting functions and the assembly of final project deliverables.
Required Qualifications
Professional Experience: 10+ years of dedicated electrical and instrumentation/controls (I&C) estimating experience within a related heavy industrial or infrastructure industry.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in utilizing standard project and document management software, including MS Project, PDF editing suites, and Bluebeam.
Cross-Disciplinary Literacy: Familiarity with the techniques, procedures, and methods governing civil, structural, and architectural construction systems to ensure seamless multi-discipline integration.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Estimation Expertise: Demonstrated success in developing highly accurate conceptual estimates with limited initial design drawings and documentation.
Market Acumen: Deep understanding of current construction market trends and macroeconomic implications on material and labor escalation.
