Pellegrino Services Pty Ltd is a South Australian construction and project management company specialising in residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. We provide a comprehensive range of services including project planning, cost management, procurement, construction delivery and contract administration. Due to continued business growth, we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Construction Estimator to join our team on a full-time basis.
Key Responsibilities
• Review architectural, structural and engineering drawings, specifications and contract documentation to determine project requirements.
• Prepare accurate cost estimates, quantity take-offs and project budgets for residential and commercial construction projects.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from subcontractors, suppliers and service providers.
• Assist in the preparation of tender submissions, pricing schedules and project cost plans.
• Analyse material, labour and equipment costs to ensure accurate project forecasting.
• Monitor project expenditure and assist in identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Assess variations and prepare revised cost estimates where required.
• Liaise with project managers, engineers, architects, suppliers and subcontractors regarding project costs and procurement matters.
• Maintain estimating records, pricing databases and cost reports.
• Assist with procurement planning and supplier negotiations to support project delivery.
• Ensure estimating activities comply with relevant Australian Standards, building regulations and company procedures.
Selection Criteria
• Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Building, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum one year of relevant experience as a Construction Estimator, Estimating Officer, Quantity Surveyor or in a similar role.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
• Sound understanding of construction materials, labour costing and estimating principles.
• Strong analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
Desirable
• Experience in residential and commercial construction projects.
• Knowledge of tendering, procurement and contract administration processes.
• Familiarity with Australian construction standards and industry practices.
