About EXPLO Middle School:
EXPLO Middle School is an innovative 4-week summer program serving students in grades 6-8. The program consists of two 2-week sessions on Wellesley College's beautiful campus.
Students choose between:
EXPLO 360 ree; – A diverse menu of classes exploring multiple subjects and interests
Focus Programs – Intensive, specialized tracks in Veterinary Science or Medical Rotations
Our classes are led by industry professionals and experienced educators, while our Advisors create a vibrant campus community through activities, events, and student support.
Your Role as an Instructor:
You'll bring expert-designed curriculum to life while adding your own expertise, creativity, and passion. Working with EXPLO's curriculum development team and Office of Teaching and Learning, you'll:
Guide bright, curious students through hands-on, project-based learning experiences
Foster collaboration, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving skills
Connect students with guest speakers and professionals in your field
Inspire exploration of new subjects and potential career pathways
Help students discover what's possible when learning meets passion
Key Responsibilities:
Teach two or three 75-minute classes each weekday using our project-based curriculum
Collaborate with curriculum coaches to customize content based on your expertise and interests
Prepare daily lessons that create engaging, meaningful student experiences
Connect students with external partners and guest speakers when appropriate
Participate in weekly faculty meetings and coaching sessions
Contribute to a positive, inclusive learning community

Program Details + Compensation:
Duration: 4.5 weeks (seasonal position)
Training: 3-day on-campus orientation begins Wednesday, June 24, 2026. Remote pre-season coaching (lesson plan review, content preparation) scheduled flexibly based on your availability.
Compensation: $4,800 for a 2-class teaching load (based on experience and qualifications)

What We're Looking For
Education + Experience:
Bachelor's degree (minimum required)
Professional experience directly related to your teaching subject
Post-graduation professional experience strongly preferred
Availability + Authorization:
Available to work on campus for the entire program duration
Authorized to work in the United States (or ability to obtain authorization before program start)
Boston/Wellesley area candidates preferred; very limited housing available for non-local applicants
Skills + Qualities:
Passion for working with middle school students
Expertise in your subject area
Enthusiasm for project-based, experiential learning
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Physical Requirements:
This role involves:
Occasional lifting and carrying of supplies and signage
Event setup and teardown
Extended periods of standing and walking
Significant daily walking across Wellesley College's expansive campus
Setting up indoor and outdoor learning spaces before students arrive
