Cut/Cal Department Operator
The Cut/Cal Department ensures products meet customer, quality, and safety standards. Operators inspect and measure materials using metric tools and must be detail-oriented, able to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs, and committed to safety and quality.
Responsibilities
Operate warming mills and cutting machines according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Inspect materials for defects and perform measurements using steel rulers, tape measures, gauges, and calipers.
Record production data and machine status accurately.
Follow proper procedures during abnormal situations and communicate issues to team and supervisors.
Tag, record, and weigh scrap throughout the shift.
Adhere to FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices.
Comply with all safety protocols, including PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as cut- and heat-resistant gloves, hard hats, and steel-toe footwear.
Follow all lockout/tagout and STOP-CALL-WAIT procedures.
Maintain a clean, organized work area by practicing 5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).
Participate in safety and quality audits as needed.
Knowledge and Skills

Effective communication and teamwork skills
Familiarity with basic measurement tools and inspection techniques
Education and Experience
Previous experience in manufacturing or a related field preferred
At least High School graduate or GED equivalent
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk continuously for up to 812 hours per shift
Frequent pushing, pulling, bending, and reaching
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly
Repetitive use of hands and arms for handling materials and operating machinery
Comfortable working in environments with elevated heat and industrial noise
Ability to wear required PPE (e.g., gloves, hard hats, steel-toe footwear) for the duration of the shift
Clear vision required for inspecting materials and reading measurement tools accurately
