We are a provider-owned, growing multi-specialty outpatient practice serving patients throughout Santa Barbara County. Our providers currently include two board-certified surgeons and a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner.
We provide comprehensive outpatient care including general surgery, trauma follow-up, wound care, women's health services, office procedures, and care coordination. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional patient-centered care while maintaining a supportive, team-oriented work environment.
We are seeking a full-time Medical Assistant who is dependable, organized, compassionate, and motivated to grow with our practice.
Position Summary
The Lead Medical Assistant / Clinical Coordinator plays a key role in supporting both clinical and administrative operations. This position works closely with providers to ensure efficient office workflow, outstanding patient care, and seamless coordination of referrals, procedures, and follow-up care.

Responsibilities
Clinical Duties
Room patients and obtain vital signs
Document medical histories, medications, and chief complaints
Prepare patients for examinations and office procedures
Assist providers with in-office procedures
Perform wound care and dressing changes under provider direction
Provide patient education and postoperative instructions
Prepare and maintain exam rooms
Sterilize and process instruments according to office protocols
Coordinate laboratory specimens and diagnostic testing
Clinical Coordination & Administrative Duties
Schedule appointments, procedures, and surgeries
Coordinate referrals, imaging studies, and specialist consultations
Process insurance authorizations and related documentation
Manage incoming records, faxes, and clinical paperwork
Track laboratory and imaging results
Communicate with patients regarding appointments, testing, and care plans
Assist with patient follow-up and care coordination
Manage provider task queues and patient messages
Utilize electronic medical records (EMR) for documentation and communication
Qualifications
Required
Medical Assistant certification or equivalent clinical experience
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
Professional demeanor and patient-centered attitude
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Proficiency with computers and electronic medical records
Bilingual English/Spanish required
Preferred
Experience in a surgical, orthopedic, wound care, emergency medicine, women's health, or specialty medical practice
Experience with referrals, prior authorizations, and surgery scheduling
Familiarity with EPIC/Tebra/Kareo or similar EMR systems
