Hiring: Mechanical Engineer — Munition System (defense & space)

Locations: San Francisco, CA / Los Angeles, CA / or Washington, DC

Salary: $200,000+/yr

Schedule: Full-time On-Site

Central Texas Recruiting is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to support the design, development, testing, and production of ruggedized mechanical systems within a defense environment. This role supports mechanical design, prototyping, qualification testing, manufacturing readiness, and cross-functional engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities

Design mechanical assemblies, housings, and internal structures using CAD software

Develop mechanical safety features, interlocks, and retention mechanisms

Create manufacturing drawings, GD&T documentation, and tolerance analyses

Build and evaluate prototypes using additive and traditional manufacturing methods

Conduct environmental, vibration, shock, and drop testing

Manage BOMs, weight budgets, and center-of-gravity requirements

Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams throughout development

Qualifications & Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

5+ years of experience designing mechanical assemblies for defense, aerospace, UAV, automotive, or similar environments

Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, NX, Fusion 360, Onshape, or similar CAD tools

Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and manufacturing documentation

Hands-on prototyping and product testing experience

Strong troubleshooting and mechanical failure analysis skills
