Description
Purpose:
Under direction, the Circulation Team Leader supervises Circulation Aides and Circulation Assistants, and serves as Circulation Manager in their absence.
Essential Position Functions:
Supervisory duties
Serves as the first level of management in resolving patron disputes
Assists with problem solving and manages workflow
Leads the opening and/or closing operations for a location, including managing money, ensuring the startup or shutdown of equipment and unlocking and/or locking of doors
Oversees and monitors handling of money
Performs duties of Circulation Assistant, as needed
Serves as librarian-in-charge, as assigned Requirements
Education, Training and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree or a high school diploma or GED and an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, and
A minimum of one (1) year of customer service experience Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics
Proficient in the use of the Integrated Library System (ILS)
Ability to maintain confidentiality and use appropriate judgment in handling information and records
Ability to interpret and apply laws, regulations and policies
Ability to work accurately with attention to detail
Ability to arrange items in alphanumeric and/or subject order
Ability to address and resolve patron conflicts equitably
Knowledge of state and federal employment laws
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint
Ability to retain and follow circulation policies and procedures Physical Demands
Ability to sit and use computer for extended periods and operate standard office equipment, daily
Ability to lift and move up to fifty (50) pounds, daily
Ability to push book trucks with up to 150 pounds of materials on them, daily
Ability to stand for extended periods, daily
Ability to perform repeated reaching, bending, climbing and squatting, daily
Travel by automobile is required occasionally
