This position offers a hybrid or remote work schedule. Candidates living close to our locations will be expected to work in the office three days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Key Responsibilities:

Support The Hartford's AI innovation strategy by identifying and implementing impactful use cases that align with our business goals and emerging trends.

Contribute to a forward-thinking AI vision for the enterprise aimed at establishing The Hartford as a leader in the insurance industry.

Collaborate with teams across Data Science, Technology, and business divisions to promote innovation that enhances underwriting and sales productivity.

Design and build Generative AI applications for tasks such as summarization, question answering, search, and data synthesis.

Rapidly prototype solutions using advanced tools, including VertexAI, LangChain, LangGraph, RAG frameworks, HuggingFace, and OpenAI APIs.

Research and recommend new foundational models, tools, and libraries to boost performance and reliability.

Create evaluation pipelines for generative outputs using a combination of automatic metrics, human feedback, and LLM evaluation methods.

Work closely with ML Ops to ensure adherence to best practices for scalable training and deployment.

Qualifications:

Master's or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Engineering, or related fields.

3+ years of experience in machine learning or data science, with at least 1 year focused on Generative AI.

Proficiency in Generative AI tools including Vertex AI, LangChain, LangGraph, RAG frameworks, HuggingFace, and OpenAI APIs.

Strong understanding of prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agent workflows, and LLM evaluation.

Proficiency in Python and machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.

Experience with vector databases like Chroma and Pinecone, as well as cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, and Azure.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

Strong communication and collaboration abilities, with a knack for explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

Compensation:

The annual base pay range for this role is $90,160 - $166,080, influenced by factors such as performance and skill level. This range may also vary based on the position title depending on background and experience.
