Opportunity Description

Join an early-stage tech startup as a WordPress Website Builder Volunteer, dedicating 3 hours daily (Monday-Friday) over 60 days to gain hands-on experience creating and managing WordPress websites. You'll build responsive websites, customize themes, and implement plugins to deliver professional web solutions. This role provides practical exposure to WordPress development in a startup environment where creating an effective online presence quickly and efficiently is crucial for brand building and customer acquisition.

During your 60-day volunteer term, you'll focus on building website pages, customizing designs to match brand guidelines, and optimizing for performance and SEO. You'll learn to work with page builders like Elementor or Gutenberg, manage WordPress plugins, and ensure websites are mobile-responsive and user-friendly. Working alongside marketing and product teams, you'll understand how websites support business goals and gain experience with content management, basic HTML/CSS customization, and website maintenance best practices.

This opportunity suits design students, aspiring web developers, or creative individuals wanting to build WordPress expertise. You'll work independently with regular guidance, allowing flexibility within your 3-hour daily commitment while building a portfolio of live websites that demonstrate your WordPress capabilities and design sensibility.

Company Needs

Familiarity with WordPress CMS, themes, and plugins

Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive web design

Experience with page builders (Elementor, Gutenberg, WPBakery) or willingness to learn

Volunteer Activities

Build and design website pages using WordPress and page builders

Customize WordPress themes to align with brand guidelines and design requirements

Install, configure, and manage plugins for functionality (contact forms, SEO, security)

Optimize images and content for fast page loading and performance

Ensure mobile responsiveness across all devices and screen sizes

Implement basic SEO best practices (meta tags, alt text, site structure)

Update and maintain existing website content and pages

Troubleshoot and fix common WordPress issues and plugin conflicts
