Athletic Director / Elementary Specials Teacher: Full-Time (50/50 Split Assignment)
Position Summary: Bark River-Harris School District is seeking a dynamic, energetic individual to serve in a dual role as Athletic Director and Elementary Specials Teacher. This unique position requires strong organizational and leadership skills combined with a genuine passion for working with K-12 students.
Athletic Director Responsibilities (50%):
Coordinate and oversee all district athletic programs and events
Supervise and evaluate coaches across all sports
Manage athletic budgets, schedules, and facility use
Ensure compliance with MHSAA rules and regulations
Serve as primary liaison between coaches, administration, and community
Elementary Specials Teacher Responsibilities (50%):
Deliver engaging instruction in assigned specials area (P.E., Art, Music, or similar)
Develop age-appropriate curriculum aligned with state standards
Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment
Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student development
Monitor and assess student progress
Qualifications:
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate required
Administrative or athletic director endorsement preferred
Experience in coaching or athletic administration preferred
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
Terms of Employment: Full-time, school year position (teacher). Some summer work required as the Athletic Director Salary and benefits per district compensation schedule.
