Role Overview
We are seeking a Mainframe Application Configuration & Build Specialist with strong expertise in automation and workload scheduling. The ideal candidate will be responsible for configuring enterprise applications, automating tasks with Python, and integrating/monitoring batch scheduling workloads using AAI (VMware/Broadcom) or equivalent tools.
Key Responsibilities
Application Configuration & Build
Configure enterprise software applications in mainframe and distributed environments.
Manage build workflows, deployment steps, and integration points.
Work with configuration files, environment variables, and system dependencies.
Automation & Scripting
Develop robust automation frameworks using Python.
Automate batch jobs, logs, alerts, and workflows.
Build connectors and integrations between enterprise systems.
Debug, optimize, and maintain automation logic.
Batch Scheduling & Workload Automation
Integrate and monitor batch scheduling workloads using AAI (Automic Automation Intelligence) or similar tools (Control-M, Autosys, Tidal, UC4, IBM Workload Scheduler).
Manage job dependencies, SLA monitoring, and alerting/remediation flows.
Ensure seamless integration of batch systems with automation scripts.
Infrastructure & Support
Configure and maintain resilient mainframe infrastructure (z/OS, CICS, DB2, MQ).
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure stability and performance.
Provide advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex issues.
Required Qualifications
Proven experience as a Mainframe Systems Engineer, Application Support Engineer, Configuration Engineer, or Build & Release Engineer.
Strong proficiency in Python for automation (frameworks, integrations, APIs).
Hands-on experience with AAI (VMware/Broadcom) or equivalent workload automation tools.
Familiarity with enterprise-scale environments and distributed data centers.
Knowledge of system and software security (SSO, Kerberos, LDAP, Windows AD).
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, orchestration, and automated testing.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with Broadcom CA Endevor for mainframe source code management.
Familiarity with modern version control systems (Bitbucket/Git) and integration with mainframe workflows.
Exposure to orchestration tools like Jules for CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of IBM z/OS subsystems (JCL, JES, TSO, ISPF, SMP/E, CICS, DB2, MQ, RACF).
Experience in performance monitoring, tuning, and proactive system optimization.
