Description
JOB OVERVIEW: The City of Upper Arlington, Ohio has one full-time (35 - 40 hours per week) GIS Internship position open during the summer from approximately May to September or otherwise agreed upon terms. Typical reporting hours for this position are 7:30am - 3:30pm EST.
The intern will report to the GIS Administrator in the Public Service Department.
During this internship, you will gain hands-on experience mapping a variety of city assets, including utility infrastructure (storm, sanitary, water, electric), park amenities, special events, and construction maintenance-of-traffic plans. You will also develop skills in creating map layouts and interactive web maps, reviewing construction plans and as-builts, and learning how local government leverages ArcGIS Online to support daily operations.

The intern will assist the city’s GIS and Public Service Departments with various tasks, including:
Data and Map Creation, using Esri ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online
Editing and Analysis
Field Data Collection
Records Research
Performs related duties as required by supervision
Typical Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a recent graduate or currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in GIS, Geography or a related field
Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
Must demonstrate regular and predictable attendance
Must be at least 18 years old
Must possess a valid driver’s license
Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered medium work.
