Senior System Engineer

Scottsdale, AZ

This position can be fully remote/telework, fully on-site, or Hybrid.

Pay Estimated: $50-$57/Hour

Make the world's most advanced SDA O&I/GMI even smarter by supporting the SDA team as a PWSA Enterprise Level Engineer. The Ground Management and Integration (GMI) program is part of the PWSA program. It continues the Ground Segment work underway on the Tranche 1 (T1) Operations and Integration (O&I) program.

Responsibilities:

As a Systems Engineer for the SDA GMI program, you will be a key member of a cross-functional team responsible for developing and deploying state-of-the-art ground operational systems. Your contributions will be vital to the success and innovation of the program. Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law

Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field.

2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience. Agile experience preferred. Preferred Experience:

Domain Knowledge:

Ground system design or scheduling knowledge

Tracking mission design knowledge

Satellite communications knowledge

Ground to satellite communication knowledge

Technical Skills:

Experience with system/software design for cloud-based microservice architecture

Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)

Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows)

Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)

Systems Design and Integration:

Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies

Experience with systems design, integration, and validation

Proficiency in requirements analysis and system architecture design

DevOps and Continuous Integration:

Understanding of DevOps principles and practices

Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

Cloud and Infrastructure:

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)

Knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)

Security and Compliance:

Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices

Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001) Preferred Technical Background:

Systems Engineering:

Proficiency in systems engineering, decomposing requirements into architecture, internal and external interfaces, and design behavior

Experience with ground pre-planned or ad-hoc scheduling and situational awareness of satellites and payloads

Experience with tracking IR payload or ground mission data transport, handling, and analysis

Experience decomposing high-level space-ground systems design into ground software/systems design

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE):

Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as CAMEO or MagicDraw

Programming and Tools Skills:

Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and MATLAB, including for software developer coordination, system analysis, prototype algorithm development, or modeling

Cloud Computing:

Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment

DevOps and Automation:

Understanding of DevOps principles and practices

Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)

Security and Compliance:

Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices

Familiarity with compliance standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001)

Collaboration and Communication:

Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

Proficient in documenting system designs, configurations, and procedures) This position can be fully remote/telework, fully on-site, or Hybrid.

While on-site, you will be a part of the SDA program located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
