Strength & Durability Reliability Engineer
Are you an engineer with a deep fascination for the mechanics of materials and structural failure theories? We are seeking a Strength & Durability Reliability Engineer to own the structural integrity of our vehicle frames, bodies, and chassis. In this role, you will use a blend of analytical prediction, CAE simulation, and physical experimentation to ensure our vehicles exceed performance targets for static strength and long-term fatigue life.
What You'll Do (Responsibilities)
You will manage the durability lifecycle of critical components-including suspension, axles, and bushings-to prevent structural failures in the field.
Performance Prediction: Utilize a "design-by-analysis" approach, combining engineering hand calculations and design reviews with advanced FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and MBD (Multibody Dynamics) simulations.
Physical Evaluation: Collaborate with technicians to measure vehicle input loads and conduct rigorous bench tests (both static and fatigue) to validate digital models.
Failure Analysis: Extract trends from test data and perform detailed Fatigue Life Calculations and failure root-cause analysis.
Countermeasure Development: Solve complex structural problems and propose countermeasures to meet strength targets while adhering to strict vehicle development schedules.
Data Visualization: Organize and visualize complex datasets to provide actionable insights to the broader engineering team. What You'll Bring (Requirements)
We are looking for a candidate with a rock-solid foundation in solid mechanics and a proactive approach to engineering experimentation.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of engineering experience (includes industry co-ops, internships, or leadership roles in SAE project teams).
Academic Mastery: Completed advanced coursework in Solid Mechanics (Strength of materials, stress/strain/deflection, static/fatigue failure theories, and vibrations) and System Dynamics.
Technical Skills: * Hands-on experience with engineering experimentation (planning, data measurement, and statistical reporting).
Proficiency with commercial FEA pre-processors, solvers, and post-processors (e.g., HyperMesh, ANSYS, Abaqus, or Nastran).
Preferred: Experience contributing to high-stakes projects as a member of a diverse, cross-functional team. Why Join eShocan?
