Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and fully functional YMCA facility. This role supports a welcoming environment for members, guests, and staff by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative care in accordance with YMCA standards and safety guidelines.
Essential Functions
Light housekeeping when needed; including cleanliness and overall appearance of the facility-- fitness areas, locker rooms, offices, classrooms, and common spaces.
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs related to plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
Conduct preventative maintenance and regular inspections to ensure equipment and building systems operate safely and efficiently.
Respond promptly to maintenance requests and facility issues.
Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including proper handling and storage of cleaning supplies and chemicals.
Monitor inventory of maintenance and janitorial supplies; report needs to supervisor.
Support emergency procedures and respond to urgent facility issues when needed. YMCA Leadership Competencies

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous experience in facility maintenance, custodial services, or related field preferred.
Basic knowledge of building systems, tools, and maintenance practices.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
CPR, First Aid, and other YMCA-required certifications (or ability to obtain within required timeframe). Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying conditions.
Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment safely. Work Schedule
Flexible schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. Work Environment
The position operates in a recreational facility environment with exposure to cleaning chemicals, mechanical equipment, and varying noise levels.
