Compensation: $90,000 - $125,000 / year

As a Traffic Design Engineer, P.E., you will support mid to large-scale transportation projects with a focus on Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) and/or Signing and Pavement Marking design.

This role is ideal for an experienced traffic engineer who is technically strong, detail-oriented, and motivated to grow into larger project responsibilities while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and public agencies.

What are the core responsibilities for the role?

Develop Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans for transportation projects, including temporary traffic control, detours, and phased construction

Perform analysis, design, and plan sheet preparation for signing, striping, and MOT for highways, arterials, interchanges, and intersections

Support technical leads and project managers on traffic design tasks while ensuring compliance with MUTCD, AASHTO, and DOT standards

Prepare studies, technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates

Coordinate with internal team members across disciplines to support project delivery

Participate in meetings with clients, agencies, and project stakeholders

Apply quality control practices to assigned design tasks and deliverables

Manage multiple assignments and meet established project schedules Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university

Professional Engineering (PE) license required

5 to 9 years of experience in traffic engineering analysis and design

Experience with MOT and or signing and pavement marking design

Working knowledge of MUTCD, AASHTO, and DOT standards

Experience with Bentley ProjectWise, MicroStation, InRoads, OpenRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, or similar design software

Experience with Synchro, SimTraffic, Vistro, Vissim, or Aimsun preferred

Familiarity with UDOT or other DOT plan preparation procedures

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment

Self-motivated, organized, and attentive to detail
