NOW HIRING: Millerbernd Manufacturing is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer 2 or 3 to join our Transportation & Infrastructure (Pole) team! The Manufacturing Engineer 2 is responsible for the development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes and workflows. This role is focused on managing technical challenges, leading continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, process reliability, and operational efficiency. The Manufacturing Engineer 3 is responsible for the strategic development, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes across multiple production areas. This role is focused on managing complex technical challenges, leading high-impact continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the achievement of product quality, process reliability, and operational efficiency.

Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer 2 or 3

Location: onsite in Winsted, MN

Salary Range: $80,000 – $110,000 per year (Exempt role)

(In compliance with Minnesota Pay Transparency Law, this range reflects the anticipated compensation for this role. Actual pay may vary based on experience, education, and other factors.)

Shift Schedule: 1st shift Monday – Friday Business Hours

Shift Differential: 1st shift – N/A

As an Manufacturing Engineer 2, you will:

Develop, modify, maintain, and standardize accurate multi-level Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) structures within the ERP system to ensure consistency, accuracy, and reliability

Manage and oversee all change control processes to maintain part routing accuracy and ensure seamless production planning

Create, update, and maintain manufacturing documentation, including process instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions

Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements in all documentation and processes

Optimize efficiency by evaluating and improving equipment layouts, workflow processes, assembly methods, and workforce utilization within the assigned area

Lead the design, testing, and implementation of tooling, fixtures, and equipment to enhance production capabilities

Provide support for new equipment installations, validations, and upgrades to meet production demands

Determine the parts, equipment, and tools needed to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications through moderate to advanced technical abilities

Diagnose and resolve equipment issues to minimize downtime and ensure seamless operations through proactive maintenance strategies

Leads long-term initiatives such as capital implementation projects aligned with business goals

Respond to production problems and escalations where repeat failures or large business impacts are occurring

Performs moderate to advanced engineering calculations

Oversee resources, timelines, and technical requirements for medium sized projects of moderate scope, ensuring strategic objectives are met while driving continuous improvement

Lead and actively contribute to continuous improvement projects aimed at reducing costs, improving quality, and enhancing production efficiency and safety

Serve as a liaison between production and quality teams; addressing issues and providing technical support to operators, technicians and supervisors to ensure smooth operations

Train and mentor operators and personnel on the use of new equipment, processes, and best practices to ensure a skilled and informed workforce

Act as a resource for less experienced team members and assist in developing solutions for moderately complex challenges

In addition to what you would do as a level 2, a Manufacturing Engineer 3, you will:

Lead the development, modification, and standardization of multi-level Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM) structures within the ERP system, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with operational goals

Oversee all change control processes related to part routing, ensuring precision and efficiency in production planning and workflow management

Design, update, and maintain comprehensive manufacturing documentation, including process instructions, SOPs, work instructions, and other critical documents to standardize operations

Lead efforts to continuously improve operational performance and identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance product throughput

Analyze and determine the parts, equipment, and tools required to meet and exceed manufacturing goals while maintaining strict adherence to product specifications and quality standards

Lead equipment proof of concept (POC) evaluations and oversee the coordination, testing, and execution of equipment installations and upgrades

Validate equipment performance, ensuring that new technologies meet production goals and operational requirements

Establish and define process capabilities, utilizing advanced data analysis and process modeling to optimize manufacturing operations and ensure scalability, consistency, and product quality

Diagnose and resolve complex equipment issues to minimize downtime and ensure seamless operations through proactive maintenance strategies and root-cause analysis

Serve as the go-to technical resource for operators, technicians, and supervisors when handling equipment and process-related challenges

Proactively respond to production problems and escalate situations where recurring failures or significant business impacts occur, providing technical solutions that prevent future issues

Lead and manage long-term strategic initiatives, such as capital implementation projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and successful integration into the manufacturing environment

Manage project resources, timelines, and technical requirements to achieve measurable outcomes and support organizational growth

Perform moderate to advanced engineering calculations, applying deep technical expertise to solve complex manufacturing problems and ensure process optimization

Lead and drive high-impact continuous improvement projects, focusing on cost reduction, quality enhancement, and production efficiency and safety

Provide training on new equipment, processes, and best practices to ensure a highly skilled and well-informed workforce

Mentor and guide less experienced team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning

Serves as the go-to, subject matter expert within dedicated manufacturing area. Also supports troubleshooting and provides technical support to other manufacturing areas

Serve as a key liaison between production, quality, and other cross-functional teams, addressing issues, providing technical support, and ensuring smooth operations across all areas

Role Qualifications as a Manufacturing Engineer 2:

Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 3+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing

Proficient knowledge and experience with steel manufacturing processes

Knows and applies moderate to advanced DMAIC problem solving methodology and Lean concepts

Knows and applies tools to perform Root Cause Corrective Action analysis

Intermediate statistical analysis skills

Intermediate project management skills; capable of leading medium scale projects

Proficient in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), shop floor control, production planning, and inventory planning applications

Proficient knowledge in interpreting blueprints and mechanical drawings

Read and interpret customer specifications and industry standards

Understand required internal manufacturing paperwork

Ability to solve practical problems and make decisions within a set of guidelines

Effective verbal and written communication skills

Work with others as part of a high-performance team

Adapt to changing work priorities

Accept and apply on the job training to advance skill level

Remain positive in challenging work environments

In addition to what you need as a level 2, r ole Qualifications as a Manufacturing Engineer 3:

Preferred candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 5+ years of experience or equivalent combination of education and 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing

Intermediate to advanced statistical analysis skills and experience with design of experiments (DOE)

Knows and applies tools to perform DMAIC problem solving, Lean concepts, Root Cause Corrective Action analysis, DFM, and FMEA.

Intermediate to advanced project management skills; capable of leading medium-to-large scale projects

Writes internal manufacturing routings

Ability to solve practical problems and make decisions
