Purpose: The Senior Show Systems Engineer is a specialist within the Control Engineering department, focused on show control systems. The Senior Show Systems Engineer will expand the show control capabilities of the general control team not only by leading the design and development of particularly large show control projects, but also by developing best practices and mentoring and training other engineers.

Key Responsibilities & Expectations:

Identifies show control architecture and key technologies to meet project needs.

Creates riser diagrams and technical project documentation

Understands show systems, and how the various disciplines (automation, AVL, etc.) interact

Creates custom user interfaces prioritizing the end-user experience

Develops custom software interfaces and configurations when required for projects

Designs and configures managed networks for show control and other disciplines

Suggests and researches new products and solutions, and when necessary, builds and tests prototypes

Assists in project bidding activities, including technical proposals and estimates

Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure that systems meet performance requirements, function according to best practices, and integrate successfully with other systems

Develops and promotes internal standards and processes, incorporating feedback from end-users including clients, show programmers, and support teams

Leads design reviews, offering constructive feedback to the team

Coordinates with other vendors and contractors to ensure successful installation of systems

Commissions and formally tests installed systems to ensure correct performance and satisfy client requirement Behavioral Competencies

engineers, coordinate project teams, and take ownership of projects.

electrical and mechanical engineers, technicians, and project managers, to integrate control

systems into larger projects.

Customer-facing: Represents the company to customers and vendors; able to balance external and internal demands and come to satisfactory and professional resolutions.

Adaptability: Being open to new technologies, methodologies, and industry standards and

adjusting strategies as needed to meet project requirements.

Attention to Detail: A focus on quality in designs, programming, and documentation – even

when working under pressure.

Safety Advocacy: A strong commitment to safety for the entire team while working in variable

environments, including workshops, customer facilities, and construction sites.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technical Theater, or equivalent relevant experience.

7+ years of experience in theme park and/or live entertainment applications

Previous show system design experience in one or multiple disciplines

Previous show operational experience including troubleshooting and maintenance

Experience with large, distributed control systems

Expected Travel: 20-30%. Must be able to acquire passport for international travel. Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of TAIT Navigator software

Basic understanding of cueing and system structures for network-based audio and lighting systems

Basic understanding of video routing and switching methodologies

Technical understanding of video display technologies, including projection and modular LED panels

Technical understanding of regional display formats, resolutions, and refresh rates

Experience with show programming

Experience with Q-SYS programming

Understanding of DMX, eDMX such as sACN and Art-Net

Understanding of Network QoS and PTP

CCNA or higher (or equivalent) networking certification

Understanding of wireless systems including WiFi, Mesh, and “Leaky Coax” installations

Familiarity with other software, such as Medialon, QLab

Familiarity with automation systems, including Beckhoff or Siemens

Understanding of functional safety

Basic knowledge of commercial aspects of projects Working Conditions and Physical Effort

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While the role does not require regular lifting or physical exertion, it frequently requires working in a shop or construction environment, and will frequently require the employee to walk, bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat, stoop, and kneel. Work conditions of the role are:

Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.

Work conditions may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements such as dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.

Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks which require following basic safety precautions.

Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work within or visit areas where required. This includes safety glasses, reflective vest, ear plugs, safety toed shoes, and other PPE as required by the location.

Must be able to view and complete project work on a computer monitor or equipment screens for extended periods of time.

Salary commensurate with experience: $115,000 - $130,000
