Switcher / Sit-Down Forklift - Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Switcher / Sit-Down Forklift Operator to support daily shipping, material handling, and yard movement operations. This role requires a valid CDL and a clean MVR, along with strong experience in loading/unloading and inventory accuracy in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Switcher / Sit-Down Forklift - Responsibilities

Load and unload trucks using sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment

Prepare daily shipments according to schedules and pick lists

Operate a yard switcher to move trailers between buildings

Pull, pack, and secure orders using proper protective materials (spacers, fillers, padding)

Select correct shipping containers based on customer requirements

Label shipments accurately and ensure documentation is complete

Verify counts, weights, and shipment details against bills of lading and packing records

Secure outgoing freight with strapping, shrink wrap, and related materials

Submit shipping paperwork and confirmations to appropriate departments

Maintain accurate inventory placement and consolidation within stock aisles

Document inventory discrepancies daily and report for correction

Complete daily forklift inspections and support inventory audits as needed

Record material movements and orders in MRP software (Mietrak)

Train and certify team members on forklift operation when directed

Follow all safety policies, shop rules, and housekeeping expectations

Perform additional duties as assigned by management

Switcher / Sit-Down Forklift - Requirements

Valid CDL (Required)

Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)

Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift and switcher equipment

Strong attention to shipping accuracy, documentation, and inventory control

Ability to work safely in a fast-paced warehouse/manufacturing environment

Comfortable performing physical work and routine inspections

Switcher / Sit-Down Forklift - Schedule:

1st shift 6:00am-4:00pm Monday - Friday
