About the Role Client is seeking a hands-on, visionary Senior Developer Experience (DevEx) Engineer to help establish and drive the organization's DevEx initiative.
This founding individual contributor will focus on: * Reducing developer cognitive load * Increasing engineering velocity * Improving the end-to-end developer experience You will partner with engineering leaders, product teams, and platform engineers to modernize the entire software development lifecycle-from onboarding to deployment-while embedding AI-powered automation and insights into developer workflows.
Key Responsibilities Developer Experience & Platform Engineering * Define and execute the Developer Experience roadmap aligned with organizational goals.
* Design, build, and maintain internal developer platforms to standardize and simplify workflows.
* Work with Internal Developer Platform (IDP) tools such as Backstage or Cortex.
* Integrate AI-powered developer tools for: * Code generation * Intelligent code reviews * Automated documentation * Evaluate and implement emerging AI development tools and APIs.
* Establish best practices for: * Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines * Local development environments * Cloud-native deployments * Reduce cognitive load by: * Abstracting infrastructure complexity * Improving release management * Enabling self-service engineering workflows * Implement developer self-service capabilities for provisioning, testing, and deployment.
* Improve feedback loops with product teams for faster, higher-quality releases.
* Measure and optimize developer productivity using DORA and SPACE metrics.
* Lead developer enablement initiatives, demos, and training.
* Integrate security, compliance, and observability into developer toolchains.
* Ensure responsible and secure use of AI tooling.
* Promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Platform & Data Engineering * Drive innovation across core data platforms (SQL, NoSQL, and cloud-based systems). * Build and maintain data pipelines for internal and external sources.
* Handle complex and noisy data while ensuring consistency and reliability.
* Define cost-efficient storage strategies for CI/CD data.
* Architect reusable data assets and reference catalogs.
* Expose data through: * Azure API Apps * Visualization tools * Analyze structured and unstructured data to deliver actionable insights.
* Implement monitoring, logging, and observability for developer workflows and pipelines.
Required Qualifications * 8+ years of software engineering experience.
* 3+ years in DevOps, platform engineering, or developer experience roles.
* Proven experience delivering developer productivity initiatives at scale.
* Strong cloud-native experience: * Azure DevOps * GitHub Enterprise * Kubernetes * CI/CD pipelines * Experience integrating AI developer tools (e.g., Copilot, OpenAI APIs). * Knowledge of DORA and SPACE metrics.
* Proficiency in at least one language (Java, Go, Python, etc.). * Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). * Strong stakeholder communication and technical leadership skills.
Azure & Observability Stack * Azure DevOps (ADO) * Azure SQL and NoSQL * Azure APIs, Event Hub, Stream Analytics * Storage, Log Analytics * Application Insights and KQL * ELK stack, Splunk, or Logz.io * Automation with PowerShell, Python, and YAML Additional Cloud Experience * AWS (EC2, S3, EMR) * Cloud data migration Preferred Qualifications * Experience in large, multi-team engineering environments.
* Knowledge of Team Topologies and cognitive load reduction.
* Experience integrating observability into developer platforms.
* Event-driven architectures and microservices.
