We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Substation Drafter to join our team at K&A Engineering in Sacramento, Oakland, or Fresno. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting and challenging projects that make a real impact in the energy and utility sectors. Role Expectations:

Develop and update substation drawings, including: One-line diagrams, Three-line diagrams, Wiring diagrams, Physical layouts, Grounding plans, Conduit and cable routing

Support engineers by preparing drawing packages for new construction, upgrades, and maintenance projects.

Maintain accuracy and quality control across all drawings and documentation.

Incorporate redlines, revisions, and feedback from engineering leads.

Ensure compliance with company standards, industry codes, and client specifications.

Organize drawing sets and support document management tasks within CAD and project systems.

Coordinate with internal teams to resolve design issues and ensure smooth project execution.

What we’re looking for:

2+ years of utilities substation drafting experience

Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or related field OR equivalent professional experience.

Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.

Strong understanding of electrical drafting principles.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Effective communication and collaboration skills.

Pay Range $65,000-75,000/year

The salary range for this role considers a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to technical ability, experience and training, licenses and certifications, and other related skillsets.
