I. SummaryPrepare the next generation of innovators for careers in Software Development, AI, Cybersecurity, and Web Design. We are seeking a dynamic educator to lead our secondary students through the fundamentals of computing. The ideal candidate blends pedagogical expertise with technical proficiency in SCRATCH and Python, fostering an environment where analytical thinking and resilience thrive.

II. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Curriculum Mastery: Develop lesson plans that align with district goals and translate complex concepts into engaging, hands-on learning experiences.

Skill Cultivation: Mentor students in developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and algorithmic logic.

Performance Tracking: Maintain accurate records of student progress and provide detailed reports via district-approved platforms.

Classroom Leadership: Establish a functional learning atmosphere through proactive communication with parents and administrators.

Professional Growth: Actively participate in district-led professional development to stay current with evolving technology trends and pedagogical shifts.

III. Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree (B.A./B.S.) from an accredited institution.

Experience: Minimum of three (3) years in a related technical or educational field.

Certification:

Current Maryland State Teaching Certificate preferred.

Note: Candidates without a certificate must obtain a Professional Certificate within two years of hire. Guidance on state requirements can be found via the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE).

Technical Proficiency:

Strong foundational understanding of Python and visual programming (SCRATCH).

Ability to teach the mechanics of spreadsheets, databases, and website architecture.

Soft Skills: High dependability, professional communication skills, and the ability to simplify complex variables for student comprehension.

IV. Physical Requirements & Environment

Must be able to stand, walk, and engage with students for extended periods.

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and utilize classroom equipment safely.

The environment involves standard classroom noise levels and occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts (e.g., robotics or hardware).
