Position Summary

We are seeking a Data Engineer with 3-5+ years of experience to support and evolve our HCM and Corporate Services data ecosystem. This role has expanded alongside our modern data stack and will focus on building, maintaining, and optimizing data pipelines, integrations, and analytics solutions across HCM and Corporate Services value streams.

The ideal candidate brings strong experience with the Microsoft data stack with an emphasis on SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, SQL Server along with modern cloud and analytics tools including Snowflake, SnapLogic, and Fivetran. Experience supporting Workday data integrations is not required but is a strong plus. Exposure to AI / machine learning concepts, automation, or analytics augmentation is also highly desirable.

This role partners closely with Agile delivery teams, HCM business stakeholders, and fellow engineers within HCM and across Corporate Services. The candidate will contribute to both day-to-day operational support and longer-term platform modernization initiatives.

In-Office Requirement: 4 days a week

Responsibilities

Development, Support, and Collaboration (70% of time):

Collaborate with business product owners, technical leads, and various Agile teams to design, build, and maintain Data integration and reporting solutions across Corporate Services

Develop new and optimize current Power BI semantic models, datasets, and dashboards to support business reporting and analytics

Provide operational and production support as needed across SSIS, SSRS, Power BI, and various integration pipelines and perform root cause analysis and fixes

Collaborate with Product Owners, Technical Leads, and Agile teams throughout sprint cycles

Support data ingestion from enterprise systems such as Workday and other SaaS platforms

Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives

Create and maintain technical documentation, data mappings, and operational runbooks Design and Build for the Future (20% of time):

Support and enhance cloud-based data platforms, with a strong emphasis on Snowflake

Implement and manage data integrations using SnapLogic, Fivetran, dbt, and other ETL / ELT tools

Contribute to data architecture, data modeling, and best practices for performance, scalability, and governance

Explore and apply AI-driven capabilities such as data quality automation, anomaly detection, or analytics acceleration where appropriate

Evaluate new enterprise tools within Corporate Services HCM Collaboration and Continuous Improvement (10% of time)

Represent the engineering team at monthly data platform and operations meetings

Participate in Proof-of-Concept design across the enterprise.

Contribute to various Communities of Practice Qualifications

Education & Certificates

Bachelor's Degree, required

Concentration in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field preferred Professional Experience

Minimum 3-5+ years of overall relevant experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or related roles, required

Strong proficiency in SQL and relational data modeling

Hands-on experience with the Microsoft data stack (SQL Server, Azure, Visual Studio, SSIS, SSRS, or related technologies)

Experience building and supporting Power BI reports, datasets, and data models

Experience with modern data integration tools such as SnapLogic, Fivetran, dbt, or similar platforms

Familiarity with cloud data warehousing concepts; Snowflake experience strongly preferred

Experience supporting production data pipelines and resolving data quality or performance issues

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Preferred / Nice to Have

Experience integrating or reporting on Workday data (HCM or Prism Analytics)

Experience with ELT patterns, data orchestration, and automation

Exposure to AI / machine learning concepts, data science tooling, or AI-enabled analytics features

Experience working in Agile / Scrum environments

Familiarity with CI/CD practices for data and analytics

Experience with APIs, microservices, or event-driven architectures

Experience with Workday integrations Competencies & Attributes

Benefits/Compensation

The compensation range for this role is specific to Washington, DC and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $120,000 to $140,000.

In addition to the base salary, the hired professional will enjoy a comprehensive benefits package spanning retirement benefits, health insurance, life insurance and disability, paid time off, paid holidays, family planning benefits and various wellness programs. Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
