Schedule: Rotating 12 Hour Shift Schedule

This position follows a 2 week rotating schedule:

Week 1: Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday

Week 2: Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday

You work 3 days one week and 4 days the next, repeating every two weeks.

About the Role

The Federal Metal Company is seeking an experienced Foundry Melter to join our production team. This position plays a critical role in safely and efficiently operating our melting equipment to support high quality metal casting operations.

Key Responsibilities

Operate electric and gas-fired furnaces to melt and prepare metal according to production specifications

Monitor furnace temperatures, melt quality, and material flow to ensure consistent output

Charge furnaces with raw materials and alloys following established procedures

Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance to ensure safe operation

Operate a forklift to move materials, charge furnaces, and support production flow

Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and environmental guidelines

Maintain accurate production and melt records

Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily production goals

Required Qualifications

Previous foundry and/or melt experience

Experience operating electric and gas furnaces

Forklift experience (valid certification preferred)

Strong understanding of industrial safety practices

Ability to work a rotating 12 hour shift schedule

Ability to lift, bend, and work in a high heat environment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in non ferrous metal melting

Familiarity with melt chemistry and alloy adjustments

Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
