Universal Shield Insurance Group (and its member companies - Universal Fire & Casualty Insurance Company and Shield Indemnity, Inc. has an opening for an experienced and proactive Claims Assistant at our Dublin, Ohio, office located in Bridge Park. This position requires on-site presence in the office five days a week to support team collaboration and operational needs.

Our internal Claims Department is seeking an ambitious Claims Assistant who is a self-starter and accomplished multi-tasker who strives to deliver world-class service to key stakeholders, including Claims Department members and Company underwriters, as well as our outside vendors, agents, and customers. Key Responsibilities:

Assist with claims file set-up, ensuring all loss and policy documentation is properly imaged.

Responsible for reporting of Medicare-eligible claims via MSP Navigator. Must be able to understand Medicare queries, compliance, and procedures. Work directly with members of the Claims Department and the Company's Medicare vendor to ensure Medicare compliance. Track compliance and communicate to adjusters and managers on a routine basis.

Prepare, send, and track necessary policy disclosures and form letters.

Prepare assignments for field adjusters and defense counsel.

Mail, email, and track coverage determination letters.

Assist with the collection, tracking and process of deductibles and other recoverable payments.

Assist members of the Claims Department with file maintenance and organization, including mail and email, as needed.

Handle intake calls for initial claim reporting and set-up.

Pursue final invoices and closing documents from independent adjusters and defense counsel.

The ability to cross-train responsibilities with CEAs in other departments.

Create various claim-related tasks for the members of the Claims Department.

Support claim investigations by obtaining police reports and performing docket searches, Google searches, and social media searches.

Complete other duties assigned by the Claims Specialists, Claims Attorneys, and management. Qualifications:

Education/Certification: Associate degree or paralegal training preferred.

Experience Required: Minimum of one year insurance related work experience. Minimum of one year Medicare compliance experience. Experience with MSP Navigator is preferred.

Skills/Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively; solid analytical skills; demonstrated organizational, problem-solving and prioritizing skills.
