Senior Software Engineer - Ruby on Rails

Wrapbook is on a mission to create a remarkable technology company, and we are looking for a passionate Senior Software Engineer to join our collaborative team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in developing features that enhance our payroll platform, ensuring accurate and efficient payment processing for workers at scale.

This position is part of our Payables group, the backbone of our payroll system, where you will primarily focus on backend development. You will work directly on transforming complex agreements into reliable, maintainable code that powers our payroll calculation engine. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with frontend and infrastructure teams to deliver comprehensive end-to-end solutions.

Your Responsibilities:

Work collaboratively with engineers, product managers, and subject matter experts to devise elegant solutions for customer challenges.

Break down complex and ambiguous projects into clear, actionable technical tasks.

Take ownership of feature delivery from initial concept through to production.

Write high-quality, performant, scalable, and secure backend code using Ruby on Rails.

Design and optimize data models and SQL queries (PostgreSQL knowledge is a plus).

Engage in code reviews, mentor fellow engineers, and contribute to raising our technical standards.

Ensure that the code is well-tested and architected effectively.

Actively improve tools, processes, and best practices within the team.

Your Qualifications:

Strong technical background with experience in building production web applications.

Proficient as a backend or full stack developer, with significant experience in Ruby (Ruby on Rails experience preferred).

Capable of writing, analyzing, and optimizing SQL queries (PostgreSQL experience is advantageous).

Detail-oriented with a customer-focused mindset, valuing high-quality output.

Proven experience in developing Ruby on Rails applications and APIs.
