FOOD SERVICE COOK QUALIFICATIONS: * High School Diploma/GED, preferred * Good human relations and interpersonal skills * Must have or obtain a Food Handlers Permit * Must meet Washington State Vaccination Requirement, per Governor Inslee's Proclamation 21-14 POSITION INFORMATION: * At will employee, on call basis * Hours range from 6.5 to 8.0 hours per day during the school year * Start time could be as early as 6:00 a.m.

* End time by 2:30 p.m.

* Food Service substitute rate, $16.63 JOB DESCRIPTION Quillayute Valley School District COOK Purpose Statement The job of Cook was established for the purpose/s of preparing and distributing food items for consumption by students and school personnel and maintaining facilities in a sanitary condition.

This job reports to Food Service Director Essential Functions * Arranges food and beverage items (e.g.

placing in steam tables, displaying, offers bars, etc.) for the purpose of making them available to students and staff.

* Cleans utensils, equipment, and the storage, food preparation and serving areas for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions.

* Inspects food items and/or supplies for the purpose of verifying quantity and specifications of orders and/or complying with mandated health requirements.

* Monitors kitchen and cafeteria areas for the purpose of ensuring a safe working environment.

* Prepares daily item counts and associated reports for the purpose of providing documentation for items served.

* Prepares food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and projected meal requirements.

* Responds to inquiries of students, staff and the public for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding the type and/or cost of meals.

* Serves one or more items of food for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.

* Stocks food, condiments and supplies for the purpose of maintaining adequate quantities and security of items.

Other Functions * Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications SKILLS are required to perform single tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.

Specific skill-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: adhering to safety practices and utilizing equipment used in profession.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math; read and follow instructions; and understand multi-step written and oral instructions.

Specific knowledge-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: sanitation practices and quantity food preparation.

ABILITY is required to schedule activities; gather and/or collate data; and use job-related equipment.

Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined and similar processes; and operate equipment using a variety of standardized methods.

Ability is also required to work with a wide diversity of individuals; work with similar types of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment.

Problem solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem solving with equipment is moderate.

Specific ability-based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: working as part of a team; communicating with diverse groups; and working with children.

Responsibility Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; and operating within a defined budget.

Working Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.

Generally the job requires 2% sitting, 25% walking, and 73% standing.

The job is performed under some temperature extremes and in a generally hazard free environment.

Experience Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is desired.

Education High School diploma or equivalent.
