EXPECTATIONS & DUTIES

Inspect, diagnose, and repair school buses and district-owned vehicles in accordance with Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) and district requirements.

Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including engine, transmission, brake, steering, suspension, electrical, and HVAC systems.

Conduct and document state-required bus safety inspections and ensure vehicles meet all safety and operational standards.

Identify mechanical defects and make necessary repairs to ensure safe and reliable student transportation.

Maintain accurate maintenance, repair, and inspection records as required by district policy and state regulations.

Respond to roadside breakdowns and provide emergency repairs or towing coordination as needed.

Test repaired vehicles to verify proper operation and safety compliance.

Order, track, and maintain inventory of parts, tools, and supplies.

Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance facility in compliance with OSHA and district safety standards.

Ensure buses and vehicles comply with federal, state, and local transportation laws and regulations.

Communicate mechanical concerns and repair status with transportation supervisors and bus drivers.

Assist with training bus drivers on basic vehicle operation, safety checks, and defect reporting.

Follow established maintenance schedules to minimize vehicle downtime.

Utilize diagnostic equipment and technology to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems.

Adhere to all district policies, safety procedures, and professional conduct standards.

Terms of Employment: 240 Days

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
