Description

Join General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) as an Engineering Intern and apply your classroom learning to real-world projects that support critical national missions.

As an intern, you will collaborate with experienced engineers and work on technical projects in software, mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, strengthen your skills, and contribute to meaningful work in a supportive, team-oriented environment, with neurodivergent informed mentoring and training from BroadFutures throughout the program.

Timing: Summer 2026 (late May-August)

Location: Various US Cities (you can chose which locations you are interested in)

Key Responsibilities

Interns may work on the following:

Assist with the design, analysis, integration, and testing of engineering solutions.

Support software, mechanical, electrical, or systems development tasks depending on placement (e.g., coding, circuit design, CAD modeling, requirements analysis, or system testing)

Participate in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation of technical work.

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams.

Contribute to project deliverables including technical reports, diagrams, schematics, models, and test documentation.

Gain exposure to industry standards and practices, including design reviews, verification processes, and quality assurance.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Enrollment in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

Academic standing of sophomore level or higher preferred.

Strong foundation in engineering concepts, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Experience with at least one relevant technical toolset:

Software: C, C++, Python, Rust, or similar programming languages

Mechanical: 3D CAD (Pro/E CREO preferred), GD&T, mechanical design

Electrical/Systems: Digital circuit design, FPGAs, schematic reading, test setups

Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Self-motivated with a desire to produce high-quality results.

U.S. citizenship required (security clearance may be necessary depending on assignment).
