Position Summary
The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Coordinator provides district-level leadership and coordination for Career and Technical Education programs. This position integrates the responsibilities of Curriculum and Instructional Management Coordinator (CIMC), Career Development Coordinator (CDC), and Special Populations Coordinator (SPC). The Coordinator works collaboratively with school and district leadership, teachers, counselors, students, families, and community partners to ensure high-quality, equitable CTE programs that prepare all students for college, career, and workforce success.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Curriculum and Instructional Management
Support implementation and continuous improvement of CTE programs of study, pathways, and concentrator status.
Maintain current knowledge of North Carolina CTE Essential Standards, course blueprints, curriculum guides, proofs of learning, and credential opportunities.
Assist schools and teachers with curriculum alignment, instructional resources, equipment planning, and course documentation.
Support appropriate staffing and licensure for CTE programs in collaboration with principals and district leadership.
Instructional Support and Professional Development
Provide instructional coaching and technical assistance to CTE teachers and support staff.
Plan and deliver ongoing professional development related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, safety, credentialing, and compliance.
Promote innovative instructional practices aligned with high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand career pathways.
Career Development Coordination
Coordinate districtwide career development activities aligned with state requirements and local workforce needs.
Support career exploration, career planning, work-based learning, and transition services for students.
Collaborate with counselors, administrators, and teachers to integrate career development into instructional programming.
Develop and maintain partnerships with business, industry, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations.
Special Populations Coordination
Ensure equitable access, participation, and success for special populations in all CTE programs.
Support implementation of instructional strategies and accommodations that address diverse student needs.
Monitor enrollment, performance, and outcome data for special populations and assist schools with improvement planning.
Collaborate with Exceptional Children, English Learner, counseling, and support services staff.
Data, Accountability, and Compliance
Maintain working knowledge of Perkins V legislation, the Comprehensive Local Needs Assessment (CLNA), and local applications.
Coordinate accurate collection, validation, analysis, and reporting of CTE data in accordance with state and federal requirements.
Support program monitoring, grant compliance, and continuous improvement efforts. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred in Career and Technical Education, Educational Leadership, Counseling, or a related field.
Current continuing professional license in a CTE program area or other qualifying professional license aligned with CTE leadership roles.
Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in CTE teaching, career development, special populations support, curriculum/instruction, or educational leadership.
Eligibility to obtain appropriate North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) CTE coordinator licensure (CIMC, Career Development Coordinator, and/or Special Populations Coordinator).

Strong knowledge of Career and Technical Education programs, policies, and accountability requirements.
Understanding of curriculum design, instructional practices, and career development frameworks.
Knowledge of strategies that promote equity, access, and success for special populations.
Ability to analyze and use data to guide decision-making and program improvement.
Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
