Reports to: Health Services Clinical Operations Manager and Jail Administrator

Location: Chambers County Sheriff's Office, Jail Medical Division (Main and Female Housing Units)

Shift: Full-time Night Shift, Rotating Weekends

Other: Frequent contact with healthcare providers, other facilities, jail inmates, coworkers, and the general public

Job Summary and Principal Duties:

Provide nursing care (within the scope of nursing licensure) to inmates under the supervision of an RN, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician. Duties include:

Provide nursing care based upon individual patient needs.

Administering medications and treatments.

Responding to sick calls and providing first aid.

Assisting with physical assessments and screenings (e.g., TB).

Coordinating off-site appointments and medication pickups.

Maintaining accurate and confidential EMR documentation.

Ensuring compliance with Texas Commission on Jail Standards.

Qualifications

Possess a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record

Pass a pre-employment physical and drug test

Complete Sheriff's Office Application Process, including a comprehensive background check (local, state, and national criminal records)

Includes fingerprint file search

Subject to a pre-employment polygraph

Must complete NIMS/ICS Training within 90 days of employment

Must complete other training as assigned

Possess current CPR certification

Graduate of an accredited LVN program

Licensed in Texas as an LVN

At least 1 year of LVN experience (acute care preferred; correctional setting ideal)

Must maintain required CEUs

Special Requirements

Must obtain a Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) jailer license within one year of hire

Training and testing provided by Chambers County

License must be maintained as a condition of employment
