Job Summary: The Mine Foreman will work with the Production Manager to manage and assign work throughout the out-by areas of the mine including the health and safety of employees underground.

Since this involves all out-by areas at Skyline, the incumbent must work closely with the Production Manager and Maintenance Manager in determining overall coordination of out-by work plans.

Mine Foreman needs to obtain fullest utilization of equipment and manpower in the out-by areas of the mine with the least possible cost and disruption of production.

Key Responsibilities On a daily basis plans, schedules, installs coordinates, and controls proper ventilation of the mine.

This includes updating the official mine map in the foremen's room, monitoring air quantities in the daily and weekly books, and coordinates and implements air changes as needed.

Reads and signs the on-shift pre-shift books daily.

Interfaces with Production Manager, Maintenance Manager, LW Coordinator, Belt Coordinator, CM Coordinator, Shift Foreman, Foreman, Engineering, and Safety Department to assure compliance with all State and Federal regulatory requirements and Company polices and guidelines.

Responsible for establishing and maintaining good communications with CM sections, longwall, belts, and maintenance departments to ensure safety and production goals are achieved.

Maintains good communications with employees by informing them of company policies, and events, etc.

Demonstrates a willingness to train employees, listen, to their concerns, ideas, and problems, act on them, and follow up with employees in the work area.

Responsible for overseeing the pumping systems.

The Pump coordinators will report to the Mine Foreman.

Utilize effective management techniques that will positively influence employees and enhance teamwork and employee involvement in the Bobcats process.

Responsible for compliance with Skyline mine roof control plan, ventilation plan, smoker's checks, and fire drills.

Develops monitors and controls the conception and implementation of technical, supervisory and safety training for all employees and supervisors working in the mine.

Coordinates and oversees out-by daily plans and activities in all areas of the mine by managing conditions, looking ahead and not allowing condition to run the mine.

Responsible for writing detailed daily out-by plans and organizing the out-by crews for maximum efficiency.

Responsible for walking all outby areas of the mine on a monthly basis, doing follow-ups on the weekly Fireboss routes.

Develops, implements, and controls cost savings plans with the General Manager and as part of total mine cost control by encouraging and facilitating continuous improvement, looking for ways to improve production, eliminate bottle necks, and minimize downtime.

Maintains contact and familiarity with the state of CM and longwall technology and technological developments.

Provides in-house technical expertise in this area.

Directs the mine in achieving impeccable housekeeping standards and in maintaining 80% rock dust standards by maintaining high standards throughout the mine (set a good example in all areas). Responsible for taking an active role in the Bobcats process, finding solutions to the "Barriers" column of the observation cards.

Takes a pro-active role in finding and correct MHSA violations, working closely with the Safety manager.

Maintains a good relationship with MSHA.

Responsible for all mine de-watering activities and weekend and weekday pumpers, work plans and follow-up on work activities.

Responsible for holding each shift foreman accountable to maintain safe, clean, hazard free working conditions, and minimal MSHA citations, by taking on safety issues while traveling the mine, making safety contacts, conducting workplace safety inspections, weekly safety meeting are conducted, counseling unsafe acts, and ensuring that employee task training is being accomplished by the foremen on the safe and correct way to operate and maintain machines and equipment.

Takes on a leading role in setting and implementing policies and procedures.

Education and Experience Demonstrated successful underground coal mining supervisory experience Ten years underground mining experience with a diverse background in, CM and Longwall operations Good planning and organizational Skills Strong leadership ability Current Utah Mine Foreman Certification Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent communications (oral and written) skills Computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word are required
