JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of the Police Division, reporting directly to the Criminal Investigations Bureau (CIB) Sergeant, this position is directly involved in criminal investigations and taskforce operations; assists police personnel with technology, crypto currency, and artificial intelligence that is used for criminal purposes; analyzes and investigates electronic data found during criminal investigations.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: For purposes of 42 USC 12101:

Collect, organize, and analyze criminal data related to cryptocurrency and artificial intelligence.

Review and conduct thorough analysis of information related to potential threats to residents.

Develop research tools and resources to aid in analyzing and disseminating intelligence information.

Create and implement advanced criminal investigation methods related to analytical products and policies.

Research and identify policies and procedures for proper investigative techniques to be used when crypto currency and artificial intelligence is found.

Coordinate research activities with other division bureaus and/or outside agencies.

Serve as the bureaus subject matter expert in areas of criminal intelligence and technology.

Schedule, coordinate, and conduct community awareness seminars to incentivize cybersecurity education amongst residents.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs other duties as required.

Typical Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Crime Analysis, Public Safety, Cybersecurity, or related field from an accredited college of university; minimum of four (4) years of experience in same/similar work environment; previous experience within a law enforcement agency preferred; Or any combination of training, education, or experience which provides the desired knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position; must successfully complete a background investigation and computerized voice stress analysis (CVSA);

LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Valid Ohio Driver’s License; and the ability to maintain insurability under the City’s vehicle insurance policy. Certified Cryptocurrency Forensic Investigator (CCFI) desired; certification(s) in cell phone forensics desired; ability to obtain LEADS certification within first three (3) months of employment required.

Provide high level of customer service to both internal and external customers;

INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS:

The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl on even and uneven surfaces; occasionally required to lift, carry, push, or pull objects 20 1bs. or less; required to effectively work in emergency and stressful situations; potential to encounter distraught, emotional, violent, and/or diseased people.

Note: In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this is considered sedentary work.
