Position Summary:

The EquiTrust Internship Program provides students with a paid summer opportunity to gain real-world experience while contributing to meaningful projects that support the organization's goals. Interns will apply their academic knowledge in a professional setting, working closely with experienced professionals and participating in day-to-day operations. Throughout the program, they will collaborate across departments, enhancing their teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills while developing industry-specific expertise. A key component of the internship is the capstone project, which allows interns to showcase their work and insights gained from their experience. Their contributions will help streamline processes, improve efficiency, and drive meaningful results aligned with EquiTrust's mission and values. This program offers a valuable chance to build a professional network and gain practical skills that will support future career success.

How You'll Contribute:

As an Application Developer (Java) Intern, you'll support the Insurance Technology team by developing and maintaining applications through hands-on coding, testing, and documentation. You'll work closely with a mentor to follow development standards, troubleshoot issues, and learn modern system development tools and techniques. Along the way, you'll collaborate across teams, contribute to real business projects, and apply problem-solving skills to help improve processes and system efficiency-all while building practical, real-world software development experience.

What You'll Do:

Develop new applications in accordance with specifications, including coding, testing, and creating required documentation in alignment with company development standards.

Work with mentor/manager to adhere to standards for documentation, development techniques, testing, and other related development activity.

Maintain existing programs as per project task specifications including coding the alterations, testing the corrected application and updating the required documentation as defined by company development standards.

Learn and apply system development techniques and languages

Use problem-solving skills to research and resolve issues.

Take on additional responsibilities as requested to accomplish department and Company objectives.

Actively participate and contribute to the goals and objectives of the Company by working collaboratively and fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.

What You'll Bring:

Education:

High School Diploma or Equivalent.

Currently enrolled as a rising Junior or Senior in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited university, pursuing a degree relevant to the internship focus.

Experience:

Prior coursework or projects in software development, automation testing, or related areas preferred.

Any familiarity with the following technologies is preferred:

Programming Languages: Python, C#, JavaScript, Groovy

Scripting & Command Line: PowerShell, Command Line

API Development & Testing: API Development and Testing Automation tools and frameworks, Postman

Debugging Tools: Visual Studio, Eclipse

Build & Deployment Tools: Bamboo, Visual Cron
