Operational Technology System Administrator

Locations: Onsite at Hill Air Force Base (Ogden, UT) Illumination Works is looking for an OT System Administrator to be responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of systems and networks supporting industrial operations.

This includes monitoring, securing, and optimizing OT infrastructure such as SCADA systems, HMIs, PLC networks, and industrial control systems (ICS) to ensure uninterrupted production and compliance with cybersecurity best practices.

The key responsibilities of an OT System Administrator include:Administer and support OT systems including SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, and DCS within government-operated facilitiesSupport and manage OT networks and ensure compliance with government cybersecurity frameworks (e.g.

NIST 800-82, CISA guidelines, FISMA)Maintain availability, integrity, and security of OT networks and systemsApply patches, updates, and backups to OT hardware/software in accordance with change management proceduresMonitor OT network performance and diagnose, resolve, and document system issuesWork closely with IT teams to ensure segmentation and appropriate integration between IT and OT networksMaintain hardware/software inventory and OT network diagramsAssist in disaster recovery planning and implementation for OT environmentsEnsure compliance with regulatory and internal standards related to industrial control systemsParticipate in 24/7 on-call rotation for critical system support Do you have what it takes?

Key skills we look for include:Must have 3+ years of experience in a systems administration or network administration role, preferably within an OT/ICS environmentStrong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and networking protocols (TCP/IP, VLANS, firewalls)Working knowledge of Windows/Linux system administration in operational environmentsFamiliarity with industrial protocols such as Siemens, Allen-Bradley, BacNet, Modbus, OPC, DNP3, and Ethernet/IPExperience with SCADA systems (e.g.

GE, Schneider, Siemens, Emerson) and OT asset management toolsFamiliarity with KepwareExperience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), AWS, and backup solutionsFamiliarity with cybersecurity best practices and government cybersecurity mandates (e.g.

NIST, CISA)Experience with endpoint protection, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and SIEM tools in OT environmentsUnderstanding of data frequenciesStrong analytical and diagnostic skillsAbility to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teamsExcellent communication skills, both verbal and writtenDetail-oriented with a proactive approach to systems reliability and securityMust have Security + certification.
