Location: Columbus, OH (Travel across Central, Southern & Western Ohio)
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm (Second shift when schools are in session)
About the Opportunity
Our client is a nationally recognized leader in energy services, smart-building technology, and HVAC automation. Due to increased demand and a growing project backlog-especially heading into the busy summer season-they are seeking 1-2 Controls Technicians to join their team on a 6-9 month contract.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on controls work, solving technical problems, and supporting meaningful energy-efficiency and modernization projects across schools and commercial facilities.
What You'll Do
- Work onsite at various client locations across Ohio
- Support a heavy summer workload and existing automation backlog
- Perform DDC controls work, commissioning, field diagnostics, and system optimization
- Work with Distech and Niagara controls platforms
- Utilize and maintain Niagara N4 systems (N4 certification required)
- Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and client stakeholders
- Provide professional onsite technical support and ensure quality completion of tasks
- Travel required; $0.70/mile reimbursement provided

Required Skills & Experience
- Hands-on DDC Controls experience (Direct Digital Controls)
- Commissioning experience (start-up, testing, verification, troubleshooting)
- Experience with Distech or Niagara control systems
- Niagara N4 Certification (the only required formal certification)
- Ability to read, interpret, and work from control drawings, sequences, and wiring diagrams
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostics capability in building automation systems (BAS)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Prior work in a field-service, customer-facing controls technician role
- Ability to manage small onsite tasks or coordinate with engineering teams
- Experience handling seasonal workload spikes (summer project rush)
- Strong organizational skills for tracking backlog work and jobsite progress
