SUBSTITUTE AIDE QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Applicants must hold a high school diploma or GED certificate.
Successfully Pass or Passed the WV State Competency Exam for Aide.
Proficient skills related to aide duties.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal and/or Director of Student Support Services as necessary.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Substitute aides must: maintain positive work habits, perform duties as assigned and directed, maintain and upgrade professional skills as related to performing aide duties.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
TRANSPORTATION
Be prompt in meeting bus at scheduled time.
Provide for security and safety of all students on the bus.
Maintain discipline on the bus to insure minimal distraction for the driver, thus providing safe operation of the bus.
Provide for safety and ease of loading and unloading students.
Escort students safely to and from the classroom.
Insure proper exchanges are made when transferring transportation responsibilities.
CLASSROOM
Assist in special class projects, experiments, learning centers, etc.
Assist in small group or individual instructional needs as assigned by the teacher.
Assist regular and special education teachers in the classroom involving such activities as:
Lifting students
Feeding students
Toileting duties
Personal care of students
Assist with mobility of those students in need
4. Assist with record keeping duties related to student progress.
5. Assist in the supervision of students.
6. Assist with instructional duties.
7. Assist with planning activities engaged in by classroom teachers.
8. Agree to participate in in-service training programs.
9. Assist with all other duties as deemed appropriate by the Principal or Director of
Student Support Services and/or Director of Student Instructional Services which may
pertain to the physical and instructional needs of students.
TERM: As needed - to begin the 2025-2026 school year.
