Description:

About us:

Hetronic, a Methode Electronics, Inc. (NYSE: MEI) company, is the global leader in the design and manufacture of standard and configured industrial wireless Radio Remote Control (RRC) system solutions. We have designed and delivered over 500,000 wireless Radio Remote Control systems to over 3,000 customers during our 35+ years of operation. Our global network of trained and authorized re-sellers and service centers are available in over 50 countries to meet the immediate needs of our industrial equipment customers.

Position Responsibilities

Develop and review mechanical product designs to ensure compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer requirements, and applicable specifications.

Create, update, and maintain 3D CAD models and drawings, primarily in Creo, and support CAD/CAE activities across the product lifecycle.

Design plastic injection molded components, applying solid knowledge of materials, draft, wall thickness, DFM, and manufacturability, including preliminary tooling considerations.

Apply independent design thinking to generate new concepts, especially for innovative sensing solutions such as Hall-effect and sealed electromechanical assemblies.

Contribute to IP-rated enclosure design (e.g., IP65, IP67), including sealing interfaces, gasket selection, and robustness of the mechanical architecture.

Participate in product development activities, including scheduling, design reviews, prototype builds, risk assessments, and resolution of engineering or test-related issues.

Evaluate, document, and release design changes, specifications, and associated drawings within the PLM system.

Produce sketches and early design studies to communicate ideas clearly and support concept development.

Support and learn from senior engineers, while also taking ownership of smaller independent tasks and sub-modules.

Build and test prototypes, perform basic mechanical validation, and participate in root-cause analysis when needed.

Occasionally participate in fabrication, installation, or application activities related to mechanical and electromechanical components.

Collaborate in cross-functional product teams, working with electrical, RF, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality engineers to ensure complete system integration.

Interact with sales, suppliers, and customers as needed, including potential travel to suppliers or manufacturing locations.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering

1–2+ years of relevant mechanical design experience, ideally involving plastic parts or electromechanical products.

Practical experience in plastic injection molding and an understanding of tooling fundamentals (gates, parting lines, tolerances, DFM feedback).

Knowledgeable of Creo. Or experience with equivalent 3D CAD systems and ability to develop and learn Creo within 2–3 months.

Ability to create sketches and concept visuals to communicate mechanical ideas or willingness to learn.

Strong problem-solving ability and a mindset for independent, idea-driven design.

Understanding of ingress protection (IP) design principles (desired but can be expanded on the job).

Good interpersonal and communication skills; able to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Willingness and ability to travel occasionally.

Proven ability to take initiative, overcome obstacles, and deliver results.

Nice to Have

Experience with electromechanical systems, RF and antenna systems, or Hall-effect solutions.

Familiarity with product testing (mechanical, environmental, sealing, vibration).

Exposure to industrial, automotive, or ruggedized product environments.
