* Position Summary * Under general supervision, performs a variety of technical work in taking radiographs of patients for diagnostic purposes.
Radiologic Technologists ensure all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.

(per scope of practice) * Prepares patients (neonatal through geriatric) for special radiographic examinations requiring special equipment and procedures including, myelograms, arthrograms, venograms, and interventional radiographic exams.
* Prepares sterile tray for procedures.
* Assists radiologists with special diagnostic and interventional radiographic procedures.
* Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions patients accordingly; sets x ray equipment and takes x rays for a variety of special and routine examinations.
* Prepares electronic images for interpretation by radiologist.
* Performs diagnostic x ray exposures on neonates through geriatric patients in the Radiology Department or other patient areas.
* Positions the patient according to standard guides or by alternative positions on compromised patients.
* Performs all standard procedures and may assist in some invasive procedures.
* Performs portable exams on patients unable to come to the Radiology Department.
* Responsible for patient's physical safety.

* Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience * Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education): * Completion of a 24 month American Medical Association approved course in Radiologic Technology.
* Possession of certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
* Possession of current Iowa Permit to Practice.
* Certified in BLS for Healthcare Providers.
* Mandatory Reporter training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.
