Ozarks First in Springfield, MO, is seeking a versatile storyteller to lead our weekend newscasts as the primary Anchor and Weathercaster.
The ideal candidate is an outstanding communicator with a strong on-air presence, exceptional news judgment, and a genuine passion for serving our local community.
Responsibilities: * Deliver live, scripted news and ad-lib weather forecasts with clarity and confidence.
* Write, edit, and fact-check news scripts for accuracy and clarity.
* Produce weather segments for broadcast and all digital platforms, including our website and social media.
* Collaborate with producers, reporters, and the production team to ensure seamless coverage.
* Interpret and analyze meteorological data, including radar and satellite information, to create and deliver understandable and impactful weather reports.
* Provide continuous, live coverage during breaking news and severe weather events, keeping the public informed and safe.
* Engage with the community both on-air and online by maintaining a strong social media presence and participating in station promotional events.
* Collaborate effectively with producers, reporters, and the production team to ensure a cohesive, high-quality broadcast.
Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in journalism, Communications, Meteorology, or a related field.
Equivalent work experience may be considered.
* Proven experience as a news anchor and/or weathercaster, with a strong on-air demo reel showcasing anchoring and weather delivery skills.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a conversational and compelling on-camera style.
* Strong understanding of meteorological concepts and the ability to interpret weather data for the local market.
* Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced, live news environment.
* Demonstrable knowledge of journalistic ethics and a commitment to fair, unbiased reporting.
* Proficiency with relevant broadcast and weather-related software and newsroom systems.
* Flexibility to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during critical weather events.
* Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
