Assist the school principal and head nurse in securing for every child in the most immediate and intelligent care possible in the event of illness or injury at school, and implement health regulations of the State of Connecticut and the Windham Board of Education.

Essential Functions:

Adhere to the Connecticut Code of Professional Responsibility

Ensures the safety of students

Implements the Windham Board of Education and administrative policies, rules, regulations, and directives

Provide first aid and care for sudden illness for students and school personnel.

Maintain individual pupil health records and perform and assist in the administration of all needed health screenings.

Maintains accurate and complete records as required

Administer medications in keeping with the Board of Education policy and state guidelines

Follow the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Windham Board of Education

Maintains respect for confidential information

Assist teaching staff as a resource in classroom and school building health activities.

Perform additional related medical duties as designated

Maintain ongoing communication with parents

Other duties as assigned by Administrator and/or Superintendent

Qualifications/Certificates:

Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.

Current CT Nurse License required (LPN)

Experience working with a diverse student demographic

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Windham Board of Education may find appropriate

Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing

Ability to work effectively with others
