/School: Assigned Campus Days: 187 Qualifications: Education/Certification: * Master's Degree in speech pathology * State License for speech/language pathologist * Certificate of Clinical Competency-SLP Special Knowledge Skills: Experience: Major Responsibilities and Duties: * To help reduce or eliminate speech/language disorders that interferes with the individual student's ability to derive full benefit from the district's educational program.
* To serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement.
* Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of speech impaired students.
* Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language disorders.
* Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech and language disorders.
* Assist with appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual student needs and to correct existing speech or language impairments.
* Collaborates with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy by suggestions for the student's daily activities.
* Provide information, support and counseling to parents and families when appropriate.
* Provide in-service education and serve as consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech improvement as needed.
* Keeps thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services.
* Maintains list of referred, screened, and eligible student, as well as a directory of outside agencies consultants, specialist, and related services.
* Provide Medicaid supervision to speech pathologists not holding ASHA certification on time per year.
* Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of Special Education.
