Position Summary These positions provide professional personnel management expertise, oversight and consulting services in organizational analysis, job classification and analysis, classification surveys and studies, recruitment and staffing, assessment development and administration, compensation and pay administration, performance management, workforce planning, and training and development.
These positions also serve as classification and compensation experts by providing training and guidance to HR personnel within their respective Regions.
These responsibilities may cross division lines and have agency level responsibility.

Salary Information Starting hourly rate for the Human Resources Specialist - Advanced positions (schedule/range 81-03) will be $40.87 - $45.00 per hour depending on qualifications and experience.
Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.
A 12-month probationary period is required.

Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have experience with each of the following: * Performing compensation activities (e.g., conducting pay setting analysis, providing compensation recommendations, labor market analysis, etc.). * Performing classification activities (e.g., job analysis, determining FLSA status, developing position descriptions, determining job titles, etc.). * Providing technical consultation on classification and compensation issues to a variety of audiences (e.g., HR professionals, hiring supervisors, leadership, etc.). In addition, well-qualified applicants will have experience with one or more of the following: * Performing advanced staffing and related organizational activities (e.g., identifying recruitment and retention issues, developing recruitment assessments, consulting on reorganizations and/or restructuring, etc.
* Providing training to various audiences and/or acting as a centralized resource/consultant for outlying units.
