Responsible for continually observing patron activities to ensure their safety and to perform rescue and/or first-aid techniques, as needed.

DUTIES * Observe patron activities continually to ensure safety including monitoring the swimming pool and surrounding area during period of operation.
* Explain, clarify, and enforce pool rules; notify leadership if unsafety behavior is exhibited and continues.
* Responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the pool and surrounding areas, daily and as needed.
* Administer rescue and/or first aid to guests, as needed.
* Assist in aquatic programming, as needed.
* Respond to and resolve customer issues and/or requests in a courteous and professional manner; notify leadership immediately if not able to resolve customer concerns.

Job Requirements EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS * Must possess current American Red Cross Red Cross Lifeguard Certification; and, * Ability to pass a water skills test, OR * Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT * Must be at least sixteen (16) years of age.
* Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check and social security number verification.
* Must pass a physical examination.
* Must be able to swim and be prepared handle emergencies.
* Must possess and maintain American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification.
Environmental Factors and Conditions/Physical Requirements SAFETY * Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment; ensure equipment is in safe operating condition.
* Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing; operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
* Promptly report unsafe conditions in the work area and/or any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS * Safety Sensitive (Subject to random drug testing): Yes.
* Tools/Equipment Used: Standard pool equipment including rescue tubes, backboard, shepherd's crook, whistle, hip pack, resuscitation mask and other first aid supplies, pool chemicals and testing kits, pool cleaning supplies.
* Posture: Prolonged sitting, standing, stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
* Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions; occasional reaching.
* Lifting: Lifting no more than 100 pounds; carrying up to 50 pounds.
* Environment: Works prolonged time in chlorinated water, inside and/or outside in 90-105 degree heat; exposure to inclement weather, noise, debris, odor, and chemicals; typical water temperature of 78-90 degrees; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
* Travel: Travels to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
* Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
* Must be able to work overtime or outside of normal business hours, as required.
* Must be available for position trainings during the designated timeframe outlined for program.
* Must be able to obtain Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid certification by the designated timeframe outlined for program.
* Must be able to work the designated summer seasonal program schedule, dates will adjust annually, Monday - Friday with shift times varying between 7:00 am and 6:00 pm.
* Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
